Koinonia - a 1hr pumping event that we put on twice a week for the locals kids in the community.  At the moment we've run it twice, but it's something that I'd like to see continue during the school term for the rest of this year and the school terms next year.  King's Kids vision  for Koinonia is to create an environment for children to feel safe, loved and cared for.

 One of the greatest self-esteem destroyers in our community is the lack of self worth and value.  We see Koinonia being a tool to bring the love of Christ to children ages from 6-18 through unity, community and team spirit.

An after school programme that ventures out into the wilderness of the un-churched.  The program is interactive, fast and relevant to their age.  One of the biggest aims is to build positive relationship in the 7 - 12 year olds.  This is where having people who are skilled in a particular area is valuable, but most important is the heart that you put in.  If the kids see that you're not enjoying it or not putting in the effort, then they wont either. We have placed a program that consists of sports, active inside games, memory verse and story time told through various mediums. (Puppets, video, and cartooning) 

Using different colored nametags for different age groups is important.  Depending on the size of the whole group you can divide them into two, four or six small groups.  This helps with the dynamics for games, competitions and serving the food.  It also supports team work and being a part of a group. 

Getting into the community is essential and Explorers Club achieved this. In the past three of the main primary state schools have partnered with us by providing their halls for free to run our programs weekly and during the school holidays.

1 of these state schools has asked us if we'd like to continue providing this service in their school hall, but because of the limited amount of staff we have decided not to continue.  Koinonia however is run in our own building.
