Hip Hop DTS

Are you 18 - 35 and passionate about Hip Hop but find it difficult when trying to align it with Christ?  Wanting something more than just the kicked back relaxed go to church on Sunday, repent every now and then Christianity?

The Hip Hop DTS is an innovative school, first of its kind in YWAM pioneered right here in the heart of South Auckland where Christ and Hip Hop co-exist!  That's right, Christ loves Hip Hop.  And if you’re into Hip Hop [either scrapping the surface or are right in the thick of it] and find yourself wanting to encounter a full on, life changing, relationship with a God who is more gangster than you'll ever be… then consider this DTS as a step toward reality!

The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is foundational, and without a doubt, YWAM's most popular course. Since it's conception in 1963, literally hundreds of thousands of lives have been challanged, provoked, impacted and changed forever throughout the course of a DTS.

Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) aim to prepare messengers of the Gospel, helping people to know God in depth. The goal is to form Christian character while establishing Biblical relationships between the student and God, and between the student and his/her family and friends. The emphasis is on developing a daily walk with God rather than to accumulate information.

During the DTS there will be workshops which cover the 4 foundational elements of Hip Hop culture.

The Right Timing

After talking with God and others about the DTS, and then God some more, I believe Holy Spirit revealed an analogy to me about timing. It’s not the death of a vision/dream but a waiting in expectation of the right time for the birth of the vision/dream. So here goes:

God revealed to me the Hip Hop DTS through the analogy of pregnancy. The idea was conceived and now it is in the womb, growing and getting nourishment… also being protected and cared for. If I, in my own strength and limited knowledge, force the timing of the birth pre-maturely the baby will have a 50-50% chance of survival. My desire is for Christ to be the midwife, and it is up to Him about when the school is ready to be birthed. Because when it is finally birthed, there will be a team of knowledgeable people with skills of running an effective Hip Hop DTS.

I’m thankful I received this analogy because hands down, I have like 1% administrative skills! But I'm willing to learn! :)
