Outreach in Samoa!! We've decided that we like the weather in Samoa better than at home! It was hot, but not too hot. And there always seemed to be a breeze.
We had a ripper of a time in Samoa! When we arrived there all we had organized was our first presentation in the Peace Chapel Church. The YFC leader attends that Church as well, and after seeing what the team could do, he opened his entire weekly programme up for us in the public schools. So we were suddenly busy! They were great opportunities, some schools included the whole school, some just the Christian Club, with extras as they heard the music and came running! In one school about a quarter of the school responded to a challenge to commit their lives to Jesus! But by the start of the last week we were itching to do something in the public place. We had been totally in schools, Churches or other concerts. So on Tuesday afternoon we managed to get last minute approval to perform at the bus station. So, apart from incurring the wrath of a shopkeeper who claimed we had stolen her customers (we weren't selling anything!), we had a wonderful time. Hundreds stopped, buses stopped, cars stopped, and a multitude heard the message that God loves them, that Jesus saves and longs for personal relationship with them. Hip hopping and breakdancing on filthy gravel was a bit of a challenge, but the kids loved it, except for the smell, and sometimes even the taste! They were champions! Not a complaint from anyone the whole trip. Just amazing. And they all grew so much in their faith. And we saw many make commitments to Jesus. The last two days of outreach were the best, finishing with a bang and a wow! It was also great to meet up with worship leaders from two different Churches who were at our camp when we were there with KK in 1994! One of them said his life was never the same after that camp. He was changed forever! Fruit that remained! What will we find next time we return to Samoa as a result of this trip? Only God knows, and we trust Him in that. We know that His word is not wasted when proclaimed. All in all, an awesome time!
